My group created a co-op game in Unity featuring an extraterrestrial (ET) and a cop. Play as an ET, getting drunk because it's your first time on Earth, or as the law enforcing cop, who's goal is to capture the ET and bring peace back to the city streets.

I worked on 2D character design and UI. My responsibilities included:

  • Creating character portraits for an extraterrestrial & traffic officer

    • Developing a variety of emotion and action states for the characters

  • Designing concept art for characters, screen layouts and icons, ensuring visual consistency

  • Contribute and participate in team meetings regarding game development plans

2Drunk2Drive is a co-op high score game featuring a cop in pursuit of a drunk ET. As an ET, collect alcohol from pubs and bars around the city and avoid the tailing officer. Alcohol gives you a point multiplier, increasing your score but it also blurs your vision and makes steering more difficult. Oh! But watch out for obstacles on the road! Although...driving into them does give you bonus points 🫣. As the cop, your goal is to catch the ET before time runs out. Using a magnetic lasso, you can pull the ET closer to you stun them for a short time period. Who are you choosing?

My Contributions

The first step of the process was designing a cute ET. We wanted something that looked extraterrestrial without looking too much like alien, and it also couldn't have any large features since it needed to fit in a 335x335px frame. Since we were originally considering a design with large bunny ears, we had to change the design since we realized it wouldn't fit in the frame. After multiple attempts, we finally found a design we all liked and agreed on. We considered having different coloured characters, so I also experimented making characters in different colour combinations. We wanted to create some signals/icons when to alert the cop character when the alien picks up alcohol from the pub. I experimented offered some options for these icons as well. Lastly, I worked on some UI mockup layouts including score display, character profile layouts and item inventory.
